What's new in this story

This story practices longer blends and double letters: -all, -oll and -ull (rolls), double f, l, s and z at the end (hill), words with three consonants together (splat).

Watch for

Watch for reading the a in ball as short (like 'bal'). Show that -all is one chunk: /all/. Words to watch: rolls, small, all, falls, roll.
Watch for saying the doubled letter twice (bell as 'bel-l'). Point to the two letters together: they make one sound. Words to watch: hill, off, sniffs, will.
Watch for skipping the middle sound (reading strap as 'sap'). Say each sound slowly: /s/ /t/ /r/, then blend. Words to watch: splat.
