Kit has a farm with a red barn. At bedtime, the farm is still and dark. Kit is in bed, and she is happy.
Knock, knock, knock! It is the barn door! Kit jumps in bed. "Who is it?" Kit asks. There is no reply.
Kit is not afraid. "I know I am brave," she said. "I will check the door." Kit gets her vest and goes.
Kit went to the barn. Her knees shook. Knock, knock! Kit knocked on the door. Knock, knock, knock! The door knocked back.
Thunder crackled. The wind blew. The knob shook and the door shook! Kit was stunned. Her wrist was numb, and her knees shook.
Kit stood firm. "I will unlock the door," she said. She held the knob. Then the door was open.
A lamb! The lamb was wet and lonely. It knocked with its head. Kit wrapped the lamb in her vest.
The lamb napped in the barn. It was not lonely, and Kit was not afraid. Then, knock, knock! The lamb was at Kit's door. "Okay, you can come in," Kit said.
